We take a unique approach

The global population is aging at a record pace. A rapidly increasing number now demand life-improving and life-saving technologies. While patients demand novel drugs that can cure disease and save lives, governments and corporations also search for more cost-effective ways of delivering healthcare. Lux believes that the best chance of making a difference and a profit in healthcare is by combining groundbreaking technologies with focused, capital efficient businesses. Whether that be an effort to find vaccines for some of the world’s most lethal diseases or cost-effective new methods of treating cancer while maintaining patient quality of life, Lux’s healthcare investments seek to provide costs savings and solve unmet medical needs. Lux is creating companies and planting the seeds of meaningful innovation in healthcare, and, as a result, we believe it is well positioned to capture the fruits of the coming harvest.

CeruleanRethinking cancer therapy

Using the science of nanotechnology, Cerulean is developing a platform of potent new cancer drugs that selectively target tumors, burrowing their way into cancer cells while leaving the rest of the body unscathed. Early clinical results indicate the drugs have the potential to be effective across numerous cancer types, while improving both safety and quality-of-life for patients. The company’s lead drug is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials for patients with advanced cases of lung cancer. The platform has also shown promise in delivering gene therapy to cancer cells.
