What is the structure of the program?
The program will open up with a kick off in New York in late July. The program finishes with a final retreat at the end of the summer around late August / early September.
ā€
You will spend time with mentors across the Lux investment team and the Lux portfolio.
What are the deadlines and requirements of the projects?
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The due date is Tuesday, May 26, at 11:59pm PDT. Interviews will also be on a rolling basis, and final decisions will be announced approximately the third week of June.

You must be able to commit to spend in person three days in late July and three days in late August/early September with the other Fellows. There will be mentorship check-ins throughout the fellowship, which may be in-person or remote. The fellowship can be done in tandem with any internships you are considering.

You do not need to be actively working on a technical project, but you should have a proven track record and have worked on a high scale project in the past.
What are the terms of the grant?
The grant comes with no dilution and no strings attached. Our goal is to fund your existing projects and passions with no obligation. You do not need to work full time on your grant project throughout the summer, though we ask that you continue to make progress.
What expenses are covered?
Aside from the $15k grant, your hotels, flights, and transport for gatherings with the other Fellows will be covered.
Do I need a registered company to qualify?
Nope. Projects you are working on or have worked on in the past can be rough ideas, a lab experiment, or an open-source tool. If it's ambitious and technical, we're in.
Who can apply?
Undergrads and co-terms in the US or Canada. You must be able to commit to spend three days in late July and three days in late August / early September with the other Fellows. You have either worked on a deep tech project in the past or are currently pursuing work here (research, open-source, side project).
Can I apply with a team?
The š‘“(LUX) fellowship is designed for individuals not teams, but we welcome you and all your friends.
How many grantees will there be?
We're planning to keep our fellowship class around 10-15 people.
