Our Investment in Summer Health: Revolutionizing Pediatric Care

It’s a rare and delightful treat to invest in a company whose product you engage with daily–a product whose existence has become essential to your family. And Summer Health is one such company! We have had the pleasure of being along for the ride since Ellen DaSilva was a single founder and conceived the idea for Summer Health, through its buildout and scale up to a fully-fledged product that offers 24/7 pediatric support to parents. Since co-leading the seed round, we have continued to invest more into the company, doubling down on the team’s vision and fueling their mission to create a world in which there is an abundance of high quality healthcare for everyone.

Today we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve reaffirmed our commitment to Summer Health, and co-led its $11.65 million Series A alongside 7Wire Ventures. Ellen, 7Wire’s Alyssa Jaffee, and myself have 9 kids between us. Add the kids from additional Board directors including Sequoia Capital’s Alfred Lin and Metrodora Ventures’ Chelsea Clinton and you’ve got 13. 13 reasons why we believe Summer Health is re-inventing parenting and pediatrics.

We believe that women’s and family health is a bellwether for societal health. Any parent who has ever experienced the magic of Summer Health will tell you it has transformed their productivity, helped them avoid excessive out of pocket costs and ER visits, and revolutionized their sleep and overall family health. Speak with providers who have had the opportunity to treat patients on Summer Health, and they will describe how it has significantly improved their care delivery, allowed them to reach more patients more effectively, and expanded the scope and depth of the treatments they can offer.

While Summer is already available to consumers across the United States, we are excited about their next stage of growth. With this new financing, they plan to deepen employer and payer partnerships to meaningfully increase patients’ access to the company’s national team of pediatricians and compassionate longitudinal care model. This moment marks just the beginning of Summer’s journey to revolutionize pediatric care for both patients and providers, and we’re honored to be part of their journey.
