Tess invests in early and growth-stage companies across artificial intelligence, biotechnology, aerospace, and the physical world of atoms. She enjoys partnering with engineers and founders tackling problems at the edge of what is possible, and mobilizing the talent, capital, and creative force needed to make their vision a reality.

Tess is a generalist at Lux, which has $7 billion under management, and has been first investors in category-defining companies including Anduril, Applied Intuition, Cambridge Aerospace, Cognition, Databricks, Hugging Face, Impulse Space, Physical Intelligence, Runway, Sakana, Together and Valthos. Lux has co-founded more than 20 de novo companies through Lux Labs, and multiple Lux investments have become lasting publicly traded companies.

Before joining Lux, Tess led AI methods research in computational neuroscience at Oxford University and co-founded a software startup. Originally from the Netherlands, she grew up across Europe and completed her master’s across computational neuroscience and biological sciences at Oxford and UCL.
